About Francesca

Wine is rarely just the bottle.

It is the table, the hillside, the person who poured it and the reason it was chosen. Francesca exists so that everything around a good bottle, including the wine itself, stays with you.

It began in Tuscany, at other people's tables.

Francesca grew out of time spent among Tuscan producers and the people who work with them: long lunches, cellar visits, restaurant lists written by hand, conversations with growers who could describe a single slope in detail.

What became obvious was how wine really travels. It moves through people. Someone pours something, explains it, and a bottle becomes memorable because of the company and the place as much as the liquid.

The problem

We remember the evening. We lose the wine.

Ask anyone about the best wine they drank last year and they will describe the dinner, the vineyard, the view or the friend who recommended it. The producer's name is usually the first thing to go, and with it any way back to the wine.

That is a loss for the drinker, and a quiet loss for everyone who made the moment possible.

What Francesca is today

A working personal sommelier, in use now.

I

Discover and understand

Scan a label or search a wine, and see what the wider consensus actually says: style, structure, character and who it tends to suit.

II

Pair with confidence

Find what to drink with what you are eating, and why the pairing works, without needing to know the vocabulary.

III

Remember and return

Keep the bottles that mattered in a personal cellar, with your own verdicts, so a wine you loved is still there when you want it again.

Where we are going

Closer to the people behind the wine.

The direction we are building toward is a shorter distance between wine lovers, the people who make wine, and the places where discovery happens. We are early, and we would rather shape that with producers and partners than describe it as finished.
